Scratch Vocabulary:

Costume: Changing the Google letters to represent a person, place, thing or animal

Background: Changing the background for your project, you can choose one or change it for each letter

Say Something: Adding text and dialog for your letters to relay a message

Spin:  Turning a letter in the logo to give it movement

Bouncing Sprite: Making a letter bounce up and down

Disappearing Sprite: Making a letter disappear

Flying Classroom: Sustainable City Vocabulary:

Sustainability: Continuing over a long period of time causing little to no damage to the environment

Renewable Energy: Energy that is produced using the sun, wind, etc to provide power for light, heat, etc.

Solar Energy:  Energy that uses the power of the sun to produce electricity

Wind Energy:  Energy that uses the power of the wind to produce electricity

Composting:  The act of collecting and storing plant material so it can decay and be added to soil to improve its quality

Global Warming: A significant increase in the Earth's temperature over a relatively short period of time as a result of the activities of humans

Carbon Footprint: The measure of how much carbon dioxide (CO2) we produce each day

Project Checklist (refer to the rubric that you were given):

  • All 6 letters must have a costume

  • At least 3 of the letters must have text to tell about Earth Day, natural resources, sustainable cities

  • At least 2 of the letters must have a sound

  • At least 1 of the letters must have a background

Bonus points:

  • Adding movement to your letters such as spinning a letter, making it turn or making it bounce
